Bellerose Playlist: Round & Round

Every month, our team puts together a selection of great tunes that embody the spirit of Bellerose and that are sure to please your ears. This month, we've prepared an upbeat party playlist that will be the perfect soundtrack to this season's festivities. As always, we've also decided to focus on two artists we are especially fond of. 2pac is our old school hero this time, while Kendrick Lamar is representing the current generation of talented rappers. Both artists are spearheads of West Coast hip hop and we're certain you'll be enjoying these warm beats!

2pac

2pac, aka Tupac Shakur, rose to fame in the early 90s and remains one of the most influential and best-selling music artists of all time. Despite his tragic death in 1996 at the young age of 25 years old, he's remained a model for generations of aspiring and established artists alike. His legendary flow, powerful lyrics and prolificity have contributed to his unmatched aura. Our playlist includes party hit Let 'Em Have It from his posthumous album Until the End of Time as well as hip hop classic Picture Me Rollin'.

Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar was born in Compton, California and started his career in the mid 2000s. He was declared the "new king of the West Coast" by no others than Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and Game and has been recognized as one of the most talented rappers of his generation. The four studio albums he has released so far have been critically acclaimed and Damn, his latest effort, became double platinum just a few months after its release. Some of his most popular hits include Humble, Alright and his iconic Backseat Freestyle.

Both rappers are known for their captivating lyrics, West Coast hip hop style and the way they each became the embodiment of their generation. Kendrick Lamar has always been vocal about his admiration of 2pac, even sampling a recording of an interview of Shakur on Mortal Man, the closing track of his 2015 album To Pimp A Butterfly. On the 19th anniversary of the rapper's death, he also published a heartfelt tribute to his childhood hero, further establishing himself as a great admirer of the late rapper.

Without further ado, here's this month's festive playlist. We hope you enjoy our selection and wish you a wonderful holiday season!
