When we walk into Joachim’s studio, the sound of the Beastie Boys and a mass of finished paintings are there to welcome us. Having just finished a large series of canvasses for his solo exhibition in Antwerp, Joachim is a satisfied man and he has every reason to be. For someone still in his early 30s, he has an incredible trajectory to look back on and most of all, a lot to look forward to. Mix raw talent with true passion and perseverance and the outcome may very well be the Antwerp based street artist and painter in front of us.
A quick look at her website will tell you that Laurence Leenaerts sees herself as a sun-chaser and adventurer. Both things are true, but there’s so much more to be said. In the light of the LRNCE x Bellerose collaboration, we jumped at the chance to spend a few days with her and discover her atypical story.
During her fashion studies in Ghent, young Belgian creative Laurence Leenaert worked at the Bellerose flagship store there during the weekends and holidays. A lot has changed since: she launched LRNCE and moved to Marrakesh, where her brand flourished. Today we are so happy to present a collaboration that was meant to be, given our common search for authenticity, savoir faire and durability.
When we think of Liverpool these days, we also think of Anthony Lee. If you’re unfamiliar, he’s a young professional creative and content creator that moved up North after having studied in London. We asked him to select some of his favorite Bellerose pieces and wear them the way he’d otherwise wear them. Here’s what came out.
In a dead end street at a stone’s throw from Bruges’ historic center, you’ll find Kind of OJ, Jo Hoeven’s love child. A special, intriguing place that fully reflects the vision and the ambition of the man behind it. We spent a day with Jo (and his loyal dog Nelson), for the newest installment of our SPEAK series.
Most people will consider themselves lucky to have found the one thing they’re really good at in life. Hans Borg was born with several talents, combining life as a young truckdriver with his passion for photography and art, while still staying a skateboarder through and through. He took the time to show us some of the places that matter most to him (with his loyal canine companion Louis in tow) and to tell us his story.
Located in one of Brussels’ nicest neighborhoods and offering modern, exciting Asian fusion cuisine, Old Boy’s vibe is welcoming and easy going . Everything from the graffiti style lettering on the windows to the bouncy hip-hop you can enjoy while eating makes total sense.John Prigogine is one of the two men behind this project and was kind enough to let us tag along and answer our questions.
Having grown up in New-Zealand, Ben started taking pictures skateboarding as a teen. After moving to Melbourne, he decided to raise the stakes and go for photography full time. He’s been travelling the world ever since, working for monoliths such as Nike and Adidas as well as independent brands and an array of magazines. He’s also one of the driving forces behind Good Sport magazine and a dedicated runner himself. We spent a fun Spring day with him in Amsterdam, where he currently resides.
On one of those rare sunny Spring days, we found ourselves in the best company with Koen, Charles and Clara. A fabulous young girl and the two most important men in her life. We know very well that every family has its own dynamic and were curious to hear their take on things, luckily Charles answered our questions with a broad smile.
Venice is obviously renowned for its canals and Piazza San Marco, but it’s also known as “the city of love” by tourists from all over the world. This time around we wanted to see the city from the inside, from a local family’s perspective. That’s why we decided to meet up with Mara and Matteo, a couple of entrepreneurs in the world of wine and art.
When we were working on our Atlas campaign in Morocco, we knew the person with the right words and the right tone of voice could be found close by, in Brussels. Meet the man behind the ATLAS poem : Guido L Z.
Bonjour Georges is one of our favorite Instagram accounts going. The person behind it is Cristina, a Brussels-based young mother of 3 adorable kids, with a 4th on the way. She certainly has a way with pictures and words; always honest, often funny, sometimes bittersweet.
In a world full of illustrators and graphic designers, it takes something special to stand out. Enter Berlin-based art director, designer and illustrator Florian Schommer, who insists on keeping things fresh and challenging for both himself and his clientele.
Located in the town of Huy, MUR is more than just a place to get coffee or grab a quick lunch. It aspires to be a vital part of a community built around cycling, bringing people together. It’s also the unlikely love child of Edward and Bernard, both musicians and cyclists, yet one’s from the North of England while the other was born and raised in Huy.
As you might already know, we love handcrafted products. One of our absolute favorite brands in the genre is Vadi Jewels, created back in 2010 by Vadine Sister, an old friend of ours. She offers unique jewelry, 100% made in France. We have been working with her for years now, she has even made some exclusive creations for Bellerose.
